COMMERCIALLY PURE (UNALLOYED) TITANIUM

CP titanium is less expensive, generally more corrosion resistant and lower in strength than its alloys, and is not heat-treatable. It is highly weldable and formable, and used primarily in applications requiring corrosion resistance and high ductility, where strength is not a prime consideration.

Grade 1 is the purest, used in many chemical and marine applications; Grade 2 is considered an industrial 'work-horse'; Grade 3 has higher strength than Grade 2 and is often used in the same applications; Grade 4 is often used in marine applications. There are also grades with a small palladium content that increases resistance to crevice corrosion at high temperatures and low pH.
